Fixed Appliance
Often, teeth need to be guided more accurately than they can be using a removable plate.
The other problem with removable orthodontic appliances is that patients have a tendency to remove them too often, this results in them not being as effective and treatment taking longer than it should.
If this happens, we have found that our local Surrey patients are not as happy as they would like with their new orthodontic treatment as the teeth and not moved as far or as quickly as they would have liked
So to overcome these problemsfixed orthodontic appliances are used (sometimes these are called train track braces).
These have brackets and bands temporarily stuck to the teeth. A flexible wire joins all the brackets and allows the teeth to be moved, this is a gentle process and whilst some mild discomfort may be present orthodontics generally does not hurt at all.
It is not possible for the patient to take the appliance out and so it is called a fixed appliance.
Mortiboys dental spa is pleased to see patients from around the East Horsley, Effingham, and Surrey areas for their fixed orthodontic appliances
